Michael Helliet Management (MHM) FAQ

Q: I don't know how to get a professional boxing license, where should I start?

A: We know that making a start in professional boxing can seem daunting, but the team at MHM will guide you through the process and help you set realistic expectations for yourself. A good starting point would be to send us an email including a clip of you either in a competitive bout or sparring along with some details such as your name, age, weight and boxing experience/record.

Q: Why do boxers need a manager? What exactly does a boxing manager do?

A: Your manager's job is to help you have the best career possible both financially and in terms of satisfaction. From overseeing training to booking fights and negotiating fees, a manager will take care of the business side of things so you can stay focused on becoming the best athlete you can be.

Q: Do I necessarily have to have a lot of amateur experience?

A: Not necessarily but it is certainly an advantage. It’s in neither of our interests to push you before you’re ready of course, but get in touch and we’ll go from there.

Q: It seems quite confusing with legal, nutritional, physiological, commercial and PR expertise required. How can you cover all of this?

A: At our training headquarters at Limehouse Marina Elite, we have assembled a team of leading experts in a variety of fields. We’ll be able to help and guide you across all these aspects relevant to a successful career.

Q: What advantages will I benefit from by signing with MHM Boxing?

A: With many years of experience in the boxing industry, Mickey and the team at MHM have a proven track record of optimising the earnings and raising the profile of our fighters. All our boxers benefit from the world-class facilities at Limehouse Marina Elite Pro Boxing Gymnasium, where we have invested in the best technology to inject science into your training. As well as extensive legal, marketing and PR teams we have put together a sponsorship package to give our boxers every possible advantage to facilitate their development. With long standing relationships with every major promoter and broadcaster we enjoy a perfect position from which to represent our fighters.

Q: MHM Boxing seems to represent a lot of fighters, will I be ignored?

A: MHM prides itself on the relationship it has with its fighters, and are committed to furthering the careers of each of them. The fact that we have so many fighters makes the big players want to work with us. It enables us to have a much stronger position at the bargaining table meaning that the fighters in fact get more opportunities.

Q: Can MHM Boxing guarantee me a certain number of fights?

A: Yes we can although how many we guarantee a fighter is dependent on their ability level and marketability. MHM were involved in around 90 pro boxing events in 2013 (more than any other pro manager/promoter in the UK) so there is no shortage of opportunities to box.

Q: Can MHM Boxing guarantee me TV exposure?

A: We are well connected with a number of national and international broadcasters so enjoy a good position from which to project you although ultimately the broadcasters decide whom to show.

Q: Has MHM Boxing had any champions?

A: Yes MHM has managed a number of British and international champions and also taken a number of fighters to world top 10 ratings and to mandatory contender status.

Q: Can MHM Boxing get me boxing sponsorship?

A: MHM offers a sponsorship package to all its fighters to assist with training costs.

Q: Where would I train and what training facilities will I use?

A: MHM Boxing has its training headquarters at Limehouse Marina Elite Fitness and welcomes its fighters to train there although of course they are welcome to train where ever they want.

Q: What medicals do I need to do & where can I get them done?
